Tuesday - 1/7/2014, 3:26pm  ET

LOVINGSTON, Va. (AP) -- The suspect in the disappearance of a Nelson County teenager is set to go on trial in May on murder and abduction charges.

Randy Taylor of Lovingston is scheduled to go on trial on May 1 on charges including first-degree murder and abduction with intent to defile.

Prosecutors announced Monday that a special grand jury indicted Taylor last week on charges stemming from the disappearance of 17-year-old Alexis Murphy of Shipman.

Murphy was last seen Aug. 3 at a gas station in Lovingston. Authorities found her car several days later in an Albemarle County parking lot. Taylor has maintained his innocence.

The News & Advance reports (http://bit.ly/JFK16l) that Taylor was set to go on trial Feb. 3 on an abduction charge that was dropped in place of the new charges.
