STAFFORD, Va. (AP) -- Stafford County is planning a year-long series of events to celebrate its 350th anniversary.
It starts Saturday with an event called "Celebrate Stafford 350," which will feature a temporary ice skating rink, a living history tent, a talent show, and games and prizes. The county's four Lions Clubs are sponsoring the celebration at the Target parking lot at Stafford Marketplace. Stafford schools will fill a time capsule that will be reopened at the county's 400th anniversary in 2064.
The Free Lance-Start reports (http://bit.ly/1esolUJ ) that other festivities later this year include a Founder's Day Parade and events honoring the county's military heritage and black history.
