RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Virginia State Police will be out in force New Year's Eve to keep revelers in check.
Tuesday night and into the early morning hours of the new year, state police will roll out more drunken driving patrols and assist local police in DUI checkpoints. Since Thanksgiving, troopers have increased patrols aimed at getting drunken drivers off the roads.
As of Monday, preliminary reports show that more than 720 people lost their lives in traffic crashes on Virginia highways this year.
