Family of missing Va. man increases reward

Monday - 12/30/2013, 2:11pm  ET

CEDAR BLUFF, Va. (AP) -- The family of a missing Tazewell County man has increased a reward for information from $5,000 to $8,000.

Cedar Bluff Police Chief David Mills said Monday that the family of 42-year-old Eric Smith hopes the higher reward will encourage someone to come forward with information about his whereabouts.

Smith was last seen Nov. 8 leaving his home in Cedar Bluff to go hunting on his property. Family members reported him missing after he failed to return home that evening.

His disappearance is being investigated by the Cedar Bluff Police Department and the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
