RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Forty-two local tourism initiatives in Virginia will receive state matching grants totaling more than $750,000.
Gov. Bob McDonnell announced the grants from the Virginia Tourism Corporation's Marketing Leverage Grant program on Monday. The grants range from $2,500 to $50,000.
Grant recipients must provide a minimum two-to-one match.
McDonnell says in a news release that the grants will enable localities to more effectively market themselves to potential visitors.
