RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- The Metro Richmond Zoo's five cheetah cubs now have names.
Chester, Richie, Rico, Hanna and Amelia are named after five Richmond-area localities: Chesterfield, Richmond, Henrico, Hanover and Amelia.
The locality names were chosen by the public in an online vote. The other name categories were African, biblical and presidents of Virginia.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1ceDKIl ) reports that the locality names received 901 votes. The African names were second with 493 votes.
Zoo owner and director Jim Andelin tells the newspaper that he plans to put the cubs on display, probably in early March.
The cubs were born at the zoo on Oct. 6. They can be viewed online at TimesDispatch.com/cheetah-cam.
