TAZEWELL, Va. (AP) - Deputies in Russell and Tazewell counties soon will be able to cross the county line to provide emergency help.
The two counties are finalizing a mutual aid agreement allowing them to share police resources.
Tazewell County Sheriff Brian Hieatt tells the Bluefield Daily Telegraph (http://bit.ly/1dxDOSI ) that the agreement will be effective within the next couple of weeks.
Under the agreement, Hieatt says a Tazewell County deputy could respond to a fight in Russell County if they are closer to the site.
