Salvation Army short of goal, needs donations

WASHINGTON – The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Bell campaign is 10 percent shy of its goal and the organization is asking the community for help.

The Salvation Army hopes to raise $1.45 million this year to help local families who need rent, food and other necessities.

There will be 250 Red Kettles and bell ringers spread out across the area on Friday, Dec. 20 and Saturday, Dec 21.

“Over the next few days if you see a Salvation Army kettle please give a little extra if you can,” said Maj. Lewis Reckline, in a news release.

“All of the coins, dollars and checks we receive really do add up. This will help The Salvation Army to continue giving hope local people and families through much needed assistance.”

You also can donate online at www.OnlineRedKettle.org/NCA or through the Salvation Army’s website. You can donate by phone by calling 1-800-SALARMY.

Every dollar given stays in the community.
