NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- Willis Hall scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Anthony Thomas added 10 points to help Charleston defeat Old Dominion 51-44 Wednesday night.

The Cougars (5-6) trailed by six early, but ended the first half on a 19-8 run sparked by an Anthony Stitt 3-pointer. Charleston had a 23-18 advantage at the break.

A four-point play by Hall pushed the lead to nine to open the second half, but Old Dominion (4-7) surged back to cut their deficit to one, 33-32, after two Keenan Palmore free throws and a 3-pointer by Aaron Bacote.

Denzell Taylor hit a late jumper to keep the Monarchs within three, but Canyon Barry followed with a 3-point dagger with 41 seconds left.

Charleston shot 37 percent from the field to Old Dominion's 31.4. The Monarchs were 1 of 10 on 3-point attempts.

Bacote led Old Dominion with 13 points and Dimitri Batten had 10.
