RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- A beer created by a Richmond-area craft brewery for the Richmond Flying Squirrels is paying homage to an old baseball slang term.
The Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants said Tuesday that fans chose to call the amber lager "Chin Music." The term means a pitch that's thrown near a batter's face.
The minor league baseball team partnered with Center of the Universe Brewing Co. in Ashland to create the beer that will be available at The Diamond and throughout the region beginning in March.
Fans were asked to help name the through an online and text message contest.
Brewery co-founder Chris Ray is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. He says the smooth, easy-drinking lager is perfect to enjoy while watching America's favorite pastime -- baseball.
