RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Seven Virginia localities are sharing more than $4 million in community improvement grants.
The funding comes from the Community Development Block Grant program aimed at housing rehabilitation and downtown revitalization projects.
The grants were awarded to Matthews and Rockbridge counties, as well as the city of Emporia and the towns of South Boston, Blackstone, Chase City and Wytheville.
Gov. Bob McDonnell says the projects focus on improving the lives of thousands of Virginians and utilizing all available resources to better communities throughout the state.
