CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -- A renovation and expansion of the Charlottesville Albemarle Airport's passenger terminal is scheduled to begin next summer.
The Daily Progress reports (http://bit.ly/IZqvB0 ) that the security screening area will be reconfigured. Other changes include larger public restrooms, expanded passenger departure and seating areas and the addition of electronic gadget charging stations.
The deli and gift shop will be moved, a business center will be added upstairs and escalators will be replaced.
The Virginia Department of Aviation and the Federal Aviation Administration are covering the $4 million to $6 million cost.
Airport executive director Melinda Crawford says the upgrades will help the airport make a good first impression on travelers.
