LOVINGSTON, Va. (AP) -- A Nelson County judge has prohibited law enforcement officers and lawyers from speaking about an abduction case involving a missing teenager.
Media outlets report that Circuit Court Judge J. Michael Gamble approved a prosecution motion for a gag order during a hearing on Wednesday.
The order also applies to employees of lawyers involved in Randy Taylor's case.
Commonwealth's Attorney Anthony Martin says he requested the order in an attempt to ensure an impartial jury for Taylor's trial. He cited media coverage of case.
Taylor is scheduled to stand trial Feb. 3 on an abduction charge. The charge stems from the disappearance of 17-year-old Alexis Murphy of Shipman in August.
