Copper theft puts damper on Va. town's light show

Thursday - 12/5/2013, 12:14pm  ET

BLUEFIELD, Va. -- Copper thieves have put a damper on a holiday light show in Bluefield, Va.

City parks and recreation director Dwight Goodwin says copper cables were stolen from Holiday of Lights displays at Lotito Park twice this week.

Goodwin tells the Bluefield Daily Telegraph (http://bit.ly/19jgcOX ) that the thefts darkened large sections of the light show.

He says the city restored as much of the light show as it could for Wednesday night.

He says the thefts are disappointing.
