Richmond zoo adds 2nd webcam for cheetah and cubs

Thursday - 12/5/2013, 9:56am  ET

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Fans of a cheetah and her cubs at the Metro Richmond Zoo can now watch and hear the animals as they eat.

The zoo has installed a second webcam by the cheetahs' feeding area. The other webcam is mounted at the rear of the cheetahs' wooden shelter.

Zoo owner and director Jim Andelin tells the Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/ItHWKm) that the new camera provides audio, unlike the original camera.

The cheetahs' feeding trays are placed in the feeding area each day between 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The Richmond Cheetah Cam went live Nov. 8. It's a partnership of the zoo and the newspaper.

The cubs were born at the zoo in western Chesterfield County on Oct. 6.
