4 with Virginia ties named 2014 Rhodes Scholars

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Four students with Virginia ties have been selected as 2014 Rhodes Scholars.

They're among 32 American students who were named Sunday. They'll be awarded scholarships to study at England's Oxford University.

Charles S. Tyson is a senior at the University of Virginia studying political and social thought and English. The resident of Chapel Hill, N.C., is executive editor of The Cavalier Daily.

Evan B. Behrle also is a senior at U.Va. The native of Oxford, Pa., is majoring in government and foreign affairs.

Two Arlington residents also were named Rhodes Scholars.

Brian W. McGrail is a senior at Massachusetts' Williams College, where he majors in political economy and history.

Emma Pierson graduated from Stanford University in June with a bachelor's degree in physics and a master's degree in computer science.
