UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- A third man has been sentenced in the killing of a northern Virginia activist in Maryland two years ago.
Prince George's County Judge Sean Wallace sentenced 21-year-old Ivan Newman on Wednesday to 35 years in prison.
Under an agreement with prosecutors, Newman had pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of Lenwood "Lenny" Harris of Arlington, who was kidnapped in 2011. Harris was taken to an abandoned Fort Washington house, shot in the head and thrown down a well. His body was found in 2012.
Newman's co-defendant, Tyrone Lewis, was sentenced to life without parole, plus 120 years. Another man who also pleaded guilty to being involved, Linwood Johnson, received the same sentence as Newman earlier this month.
