NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- A military housing neighborhood at Naval Station Norfolk has seen more than its share of power outages this year.
Eight outages have occurred in the past six months at the Norfolk Crossings neighborhood. WAVY-TV (http://bit.ly/1by9164) reports the latest outage occurred Friday and was blamed on a squirrel.
Naval Facilities Engineering Command Mid-Atlantic spokesman Tom Kreidel says the Navy has worked to trim tree limbs near power lines. He says plans also call for placing fault indicators on lines and equipment.
Kreidel says the Navy base and its housing areas require complex wiring that are fed by multiple sources.
