Stafford County bank robbed by gunman

WASHINGTON – Stafford County sheriffs are looking for a man they say robbed a bank with a gun on Saturday morning.

The sheriff’s office says they got an emergency alarm from the Stellar One Bank, at 25 Banks Ford Parkway, at about 9:30. As they headed to the bank, an employee told the dispatcher that the bank had just been robbed.

When the deputies got there, they searched for the suspect for two hours, but did not find him.

Bank employees told deputies that the man came to the bank counter, showed a gun and demanded money from the teller. The teller gave him an unspecified amount of money, and he ran off. No one was injured; there were no other customers in the bank at the time.

The suspect is described as white; 5 feet, 11 inches tall; and skinny, with a thin tuft of hair under his lower lip. He was wearing a black nylon jacket and a red cap with a black plaid design on the front of the cap.

Anyone who has information about the suspect is asked to call the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office at 540-658-4400 or call Stafford Crime Solvers at 540-659-2020.
