CEDAR BLUFF, Va. (AP) -- Authorities have suspended the search for a Tazewell County hunter who was reported missing more than a week ago.
Cedar Bluff Police Chief David Mills says the ground search was suspended Thursday for 41-year- old Eric Smith and probably will not resume until any new leads come about.
The Bluefield Daily Telegraph reports (http://bit.ly/1hKPVCi ) that Smith was reported by his wife on Nov. 8 after he left his home to go hunting in the area about 20 miles from the West Virginia border.
Smith's co-workers at CONSOL Energy volunteered their time and the company also volunteered its search and rescue team.
State police, local police and fire departments, crews with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, helicopters and search and rescue dogs also provided their services in the search.
