RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Two health centers in Virginia have been awarded federal grants to expand access to care.

The Department of Health and Human Services awarded $775,000 to the Rockbridge Area Free Clinic in Lexington and $317,000 to the Greater Prince William Community Health Center in Woodbridge.

Health and Human Resources Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Thursday in a news release that the funding will help the centers establish new sites that will serve nearly 11,000 additional people.

Nationwide, about $150 million in grants are being awarded to 236 health center programs.

The funding is made available by the Affordable Care Act.
