NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) -- A construction and mining equipment manufacturer says it's laying off 65 workers in Newport News due to a downturn in the mining industry.
Liebherr Mining Equipment spokeswoman Sabrina Warburton tells WVEC-TV (http://bit.ly/190kI3O ) that customers have been canceling or postponing projects until 2015.
Warburton says the company will help affected workers find other jobs.
Earlier this year, Gov. Bob McDonnell announced a $45 million expansion of Liebherr operations in Newport News and Hampton.
