RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Federal agents say a man wanted in the fatal shooting of his child's mother in New Jersey has been arrested in Richmond.

U.S. marshals arrested 27-year-old Salim Newton on a fugitive warrant.

U.S. Marshal Robert Mathieson say Newton was previously charged by police in Phillipsburg, N.J., with first-degree murder and three gun-related counts.

He says 22-year-old Melissa Williams was fatally shot at her home on Sept. 18.

Mathieson says an investigation determined Newton was living with relatives at a home in Richmond. Newton was arrested without incident after leaving the home Wednesday.
