RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia's two U.S. senators are looking for the next federal prosecutor for the state's Eastern District.
Sens. Mark Warner and Tim Kaine said Wednesday that they are accepting applications for U.S. attorney in the district that covers much of northern Virginia, as well as the Richmond and Hampton Roads regions. They will recommend qualified candidates to the president, who will nominate one to be considered by the Senate Judiciary Committee and then the full Senate. The senators are taking applications until Nov. 8.
The new U.S. attorney will succeed Neil MacBride, who resigned after four years on the job.
