PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) - Fort Lee's annual Run for the Fallen is being delayed until at least next spring because of the federal government shutdown.
It had originally been scheduled for Oct. 19.
Col. Paul Brooks is the Fort Lee Garrison commander. He says under current conditions, they don't have the resources to appropriately conduct the event, which honors fallen service members and their survivors. More than 3,200 people participated in last year's event, running more than 10,000 miles combined.
