Debris pickup set at Va. parks, beaches

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Volunteer groups in Virginia are gearing up for this year's International Coastal Cleanup.

The events set for Saturday include debris pickup at state parks, rivers and beaches.

Among the locations are Douthat State Park in Millboro, Pocahontas State Park in Midlothian, York River State Park in Williamsburg, Philpott Lake near Bassett, Peaks View Park in Lynchburg, Newtown Creek in Norfolk, the Dan River in Danville, and the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge and First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach.

On Sunday, cleanups are set for Accotink Creek in Fairfax County and the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

More events are scheduled at several other sites next month.
