CULPEPER, Va. -- Some Culpeper County supervisors are fuming after the local prosecutor called board members corrupt.
The Free Lance-Star reports (http://bit.ly/16kzrW1 ) that Culpeper Commonwealth's Attorney Megan Frederick sent an email to about a dozen people last week praising two board members for supporting her election last November and opposing a new building for the sheriff's office. She says the two, who are up for re-election, lost the battle over the building because of "incompetent and corrupt members of the board."
Supervisor Steve Nixon called the allegation preposterous. Board chairman Sue Hansohn called it bizarre and said she was shocked. Supervisor Bill Chase said he is furious.
Frederick declined to explain her use of the word "corrupt" to the Fredericksburg newspaper, but said she stands behind the email.
