Southwest Va.'s Big Stone Gap going Hollywood

Friday - 9/20/2013, 7:49am  ET

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Big Stone Gap is getting the big screen treatment.

The governor's office says a film version is being made of author Adriana Trigiani's novel of the same name as her native far southwest town. Filming is scheduled to begin this fall.

Trigiani grew up in Big Stone Gap as part of a large Italian-American family. That experience has shaped many of her books, including "Cooking With My Sisters."

Big Stone Gap Town Manager Pat Murphy said the community is excited by the upcoming film production.

The production of "Big Stone Gap" is eligible for film incentives based on the amount of money the production company spends in the commonwealth.
