ROANOKE, Va. (AP) -- Roanoke County police have released the name of a man who died at a recycling plant.
Police said Thursday that 53-year-old Daniel A. Emery slipped into a baler machine Tuesday at the Recycling and Disposal Solutions plant.
The machine is used to compact aluminum cans, plastic bottles, cardboard and other items.
Salvation Army Red Shield Lodge program director Mike Moffitt says Emery had lived at the Roanoke lodge since April and started working at the recycling plant in May.
Moffitt tells The Roanoke Times that Emery had been estranged from his family.
