Army Old Guard member accused of posting footage of sex with teen

WASHINGTON – A member of the U.S. Army’s Old Guard unit is facing charges after he allegedly posted a video of himself having sex with a teenage girl on the Internet.

A spokesman for The Old Guard says Spc. Matthew McKendrick was arrested July 26 on charges of carnal knowledge with a 13-14-year-old without force and indecent liberties with a minor.

Police say McKendrick, 30, had sex with a 14-year-old girl on multiple occasions over the course of a number of days, according to NBC Washington.

Police say McKendrick met the Chesterfield, Va., girl online and took her from the Richmond area to his apartment, NBC Washington reports.

Chesterfield police searched for the girl following her disappearance and were able to locate her.

McKendrick is being held without bail at a Fairfax County facility. The Fairfax Country Police Department is leading the investigation with assistance from military investigators and prosecutors.

The Old Guard — or the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment — is the Army’s oldest active-duty infantry unit. Among their duties, soldiers from the unit keep watch at the Tomb of the Unknowns and provide military funeral escorts at Arlington National Cemetery.
