FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) -- Fairfax County police are investigating as a possible hate crime an attack in which a 12-year-old boy running a lemonade stand was hit with an apparent urine-filled balloon by a costumed attacker.
Police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said Thursday that the incident occurred July 6 on Monument Drive in Fairfax. The boy's father told police that his son had been operating a lemonade stand outside an apartment complex when a man came out of one of the buildings, threw the balloon at the boy and left.
The Washington Post reported (http://wapo.st/152kMkO) that, according to a search warrant affidavit, the man was wearing a full body leotard that concealed his identity.
The Post reports that a few minutes after being hit with the balloon, the boy heard a male voice from the building say, "Go back to Africa you [expletives]! It was only piss."
No arrests have been made.

There is a discrepancy about the boy's age. Some media reports say he is 12. Others say he is 13. WTOP will update this as more information becomes available.
