WASHINGTON (AP) -- Metro riders may notice an increased police presence on their evening commute.
More than 50 officers from multiple agencies will be participating Friday in "Blue TIDE," a show-of-force aimed at deterring crime and potential terrorist activity. The TIDE part of the title stands for Terrorism Identification and Deterrence Effort.
As part of the effort police will perform a number of security sweeps at Metro stations. Officers will also distribute crime prevention information at stations.
