POWHATAN, Va. - A Powhatan County grand jury has indicted a man on charges stemming from a wreck that killed his three older sisters.
Fifty-three-year-old Jerry B. Middleton of Chesterfield County is charged with three counts of involuntary manslaughter and second-offense driving under the influence of alcohol.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/11hFZ6B ) reports that the grand jury issued the indictments on Tuesday.
State police say a vehicle driven by Middleton ran off the right side of U.S. 60 and hit a tree on May 4. Middleton's sisters were passengers in the vehicle. They were all pronounced dead at the scene.
State police identified the victims as 62-year-old Joan V. Middleton, 73-year-old Shirley M. Smothers and 70-year-old Thelma L. Middleton, all of Richmond.
