CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -- William H. Goodwin Jr. will become vice rector of the University of Virginia Board of Visitors in July.

The university says in a news release that board members elected Goodwin on Monday to replace George K. Martin. Martin will become rector when Helen Dragas' term ends on June 30.

Goodwin's two-year term as vice rector begins July 1. He will become rector in 2015.

Gov. Bob McDonnell appointed Goodwin to the board in January to fill the unexpired term of R.J. Kirk. He previously served as a senior adviser to the board.

Goodwin also served two terms on the board from 1996 to 2004.

He is the chairman of CCA Industries Inc.
