DINWIDDIE, Va. (AP) -- More than a dozen neglected pot-bellied pigs seized in Dinwiddie County have found new homes.

Police continue to search for the pigs' caretaker, who was last seen April 21.

Seventeen pigs and a donkey were seized from a property in early April. County staff surveying land near Fort Pickett had reported seeing some pigs running along a road.

Chief Animal Control Officer Alvin Langley tells The Progress-Index ( ) that the animals didn't have food or water.

Langley says the property's owner didn't know the caretaker neglected the animals. The owner won't face charges.

All the animals seized have been adopted. Several dozen pigs that wandered off the property are still being sought.
