WYTHEVILLE, Va. (AP) -- Virginia State Police are investigating an accident on Interstate 81 in Wythe County in which a tractor-trailer carrying 50,000 pounds of strawberries overturned.
State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says the drivers of the tractor-trailer and a pickup truck were taken by ambulance to a hospital with minor injuries Monday afternoon.
Geller says the northbound tractor-trailer crossed into the median and overturned in the southbound lanes on top of the pickup truck at the 81-mile marker.
The tractor-trailer's driver was charged with reckless driving, failing to wear a seat belt and several drug counts, including possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
The crash remains under investigation.
