DINWIDDIE, Va. (AP) -- A judge has ordered a man charged with killing a Virginia State Police trooper to undergo an evaluation.
The evaluation is to determine whether 28-year-old Russell E. Brown III was sane when Master Trooper Junius A. Walker was fatally shot on Interstate 85 in Dinwiddie County on March 14.
According to court documents, Brown told investigators that God made him do it.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/11Y6DnV ) reports that Dinwiddie General District Court Judge Mayo K. Gravatt ordered the evaluation earlier this month.
Brown's lawyers haven't yet filed a request for an evaluation to determine his competency to stand trial.
Brown is charged with capital murder, two firearms counts and attempted capital murder. Prosecutors have said they will seek the death penalty.
