Ex-Breakell employee pleads guilty to mail fraud

Tuesday - 4/9/2013, 2:19pm  ET

ROANOKE, Va. (AP) -- A former Breakell Inc. employee has pleaded guilty to a mail fraud charge stemming from a scheme that contributed to the company's closure.

Federal prosecutors say 33-year-old Jamie Carl Graham used building materials billed to Breakell to remodel his home and the homes of friends. At the time, Graham was a project manager for the Roanoke construction company.

The scheme involved shifting costs from one construction project to another. It created financial difficulties that forced Breakell to shut down several months ago.

The Roanoke Times (http://bit.ly/Z69gTq ) reports that Graham entered his plea Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Roanoke. He faces up to 20 years in prison when sentenced in August.
