CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Five University of Virginia students who won a nationwide contest to enlighten college students about the national debt will be recognized by former President Bill Clinton.

The team will receive its $10,000 first-place prize Saturday in St. Louis. University officials say Clinton is scheduled to participate in the ceremony.

Ten teams participated in the six-week "Up to Us" competition, bringing the debt discussion to their peers through independently designed campaigns. The Clinton Global Initiative University was one of the sponsors, and Chelsea Clinton was one of the judges.

The winning team members are Lena Shi, Joshua Lansford, Alan Safferson, Ryan Singel and Amara Warren. Shi says the team will use the prize money to continue its educational efforts on the debt issue.
