Governor announces $1M in housing grants

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Housing complexes in Gloucester and Fairfax counties and Newport News are receiving grants from a state program aimed at reducing homelessness.

The $1 million in grants will create 19 housing units for chronically homeless and disabled Virginians.

Gov. Bob McDonnell said Tuesday that $500,000 will go to Pathway Homes Permanent Supportive Housing in Fairfax County. Woodland Pointe Apartments in Gloucester County will receive $362,338, and New Phoenix Village in Newport News is getting $137,662.
