CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -- The University of Virginia is renovating and expanding its Innovation Lab.
The facility is scheduled to reopen April 11 with a new name. It will be called the W.L. Lyons Brown III Innovation Laboratory.
The Innovation Lab is a university-wide initiative to foster entrepreneurship and innovation education. It's a collaborative effort of the university's 11 schools, the Provost's Office and UVA Innovation.
Twenty-four companies will make up the 2013-2014 incubator class, including seven community-based ventures. Curriculum and programs will be overseen by a new faculty advisory council that will include representatives from all 11 U.Va. schools.
