PORTSMOUTH, Va. -- The Coast Guard is investigating what caused a fire aboard one of its Virginia-based cutters.
The fire occurred aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Bear while it was moored at Coast Guard Base Portsmouth on Thursday. The fire was contained to the damage control shop and extinguished within an hour. The Coast Guard says nobody was injured.
The Coast Guard Cutter Bear is a 270-foot medium-endurance cutter homeported in Portsmouth.
