CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Albemarle County police have identified a woman who died after she was hit by a train.
Police tell media outlets that the Buckingham Branch Railroad train hit 18-year-old Kimberly Welch on Monday night. The accident occurred near a quarry east of Charlottesville.
Welch didn't have a fixed address. She was seen Monday afternoon at a day shelter in Charlottesville.
The investigation is continuing.
