RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A funeral service is scheduled for former Virginia Supreme Court Chief Justice Harry L. Carrico.
Carrico served more than 50 years on the Supreme Court of Virginia, more than anyone in the court's history. He died Sunday in Richmond at the age of 96.
Carrico retired in 2003 after 42 years on the Supreme Court, the last 22 as chief justice. He continued to serve as a senior justice.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Henry M. Cannon Memorial Chapel at the University of Richmond, where he was serving as a visiting Professor of Law and Civil Engagement at the time of his death. Interment will follow in a family plot in the Warrenton Cemetery in Fauquier County.
