KALISPELL, Mont. - Officials in northwestern Montana have released the name of a Virginia man who drowned in the Flathead River near Hungry Horse.
Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry tells the Flathead Beacon ( http://bit.ly/WIVYJ0) that 23-year-old Alan David Castro of Fairfax, Va., fell into the river on Friday afternoon. His body was spotted from a helicopter and was recovered shortly before noon on Saturday.
Castro had been visiting family in Hungry Horse.
Family members noticed he wasn't in the house at Friday afternoon and followed footprints down to the river, where they ended at the edge of the ice. He was reported missing at about 2:30 p.m. Friday.
