RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Runners in this year's Richmond Marathon may not need personal music players and earphones to keep them going.
Saturday's race will include 28 bands and musical acts along the course to motivate competitors.
A record field of more than 18,000 is signed up the marathon, half marathon and 8-kilometer races.
Nine community groups also are signed up to provide cheerleading sections along the course and compete for prize money based on originality, theme, decorations, crowd size and spirit.
