STAUNTON, Va. - Virginia is putting a freeze on new clients for services that help people with disabilities work and care for themselves.

Due to tight funding, the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services will stop accepting new clients as of Nov. 15.

Aging and Rehabilitative Services Commissioner Jim Rothrock tells The News Leader of Staunton ( http://bit.ly/TuUgYu) that the freeze is expected to be temporary. He expects funding eventually will be available from federal dollars, insurance payments and savings in agency operations.

It's the second freeze this year. The agency stopped accepting new clients from March to May because of a lack of funding.

More than 1,800 people were on a waiting list for services as of the beginning of October.
