DANVILLE, Va. - Longtime Danville Community College President Carlyle Ramsey is retiring next summer.
The Danville Register & Bee ( http://bit.ly/R2CY7Y) says Ramsey's retirement was announced Monday during a meeting of the school's board. He plans to step down in August 2013.
Ramsey has served as the school's president for 20 years. He says he may consider teaching.
Before Ramsey's announcement, director of development Shannon Hair unveiled nine cakes representing more than $7 million raised during a two-year major gifts campaign. The goal was $7 million.
The money will be used to fund scholarships, workforce and professional training, technology, faculty and staff development and tutoring students.
