PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) - Fort Lee is hosting an annual Army competition showcasing the skills, strength and commitment of soldiers.
Twenty-four troops and noncommissioned officers from Army commands around the world are taking part in the Best Warrior Competition that began at the Petersburg base on Sunday.
Fort Lee has hosted the event nine of the 11 years it has been held. The competition features five days of field, classroom and boardroom challenges.
The Best Warriors will be announced Oct. 22 in Washington, D.C.
Following the competition last year, Sgt. Guy Mellor of the Army National Guard was named Noncommissioned Officer of the Year and Spc. Thomas Hauser of the U.S. Army Forces Command was named Soldier of the Year.
