Wind energy 'town hall' set in Virginia Beach

Thursday - 10/11/2012, 3:29am  ET

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - A Virginia Beach gathering of offshore wind advocates and national industry leaders is coming to a close with a town hall meeting on the green energy.

The meeting Thursday night will include a representative from the Offshore Wind Development Coalition, the Atlantic Wind Connection and Dominion Virginia Power, which has expressed an interest in developing wind farms off the state's coast.

The national conference sponsored by the American Wind Energy Association brought together players from various segments of the emerging wind industry in the U.S. A study issued during the conference forecast the creation of more than 70,000 jobs in the Mid-Atlantic states during a 10-year build-up to developing wind farms off the coast from New York to Virginia.
